Pinned Post: Antepost Predictions - Information

Welcome to our ante-post predictions.

As a member signed up to our ante-post predictions, you will have access to all posts published in this section of our website.

Ante-post bets are wagers struck on horse races well in advance of the event, typically weeks or months beforehand.

The benefit of an ante-post market is generally the higher odds that are offered, since they account for uncertainties such as changes in form, injuries, entries, and racing conditions (going etc).

Wagering on a selection weeks or months out from a race carries additional risk (which can be mitigated in some cases) but making an informed decision can often reap higher rewards.

Publication:

Our ante-post publications will be published as close to the initial declarations as possible, with email notifications available. The predictive output will remain dynamic right up until hours before the event, and will update accordingly based on a continual review of the market, runners, riders, and conditions.

Due to the nature of these insights, we are not providing this information as formal tips, but purely as an early indication of every horse's probable chance based on the available data at the time.

Staking Strategy/Plan:

With the additional uncertainty of ante-post predictions, we will not offer a specific staking strategy or staking plan other than the minimum recommendation on odds. These are classified directly in the output for each race as "win_odds", "place_odds", "eachway_odds", and "combined_odds".

It is recommended that, depending on the type of bet you are looking to place, the odds offered by the bookmaker be equal to or greater than those listed for the horse in question.

Other relative "pros" and "cons" may also play an influencing role in any betting selection, and this can be factored into any personal decision made.

The descending order of preference is, like all other race predictions, based on the probability of winning.

NRNB:

A Non-Runner No Bet (NRNB) offer is a promotion by some bookmakers where if you place a bet on a horse and, for whatever reason, it doesn't run in the race, you get your stake refunded. These types of promotions are typically only available on major horse racing events like the Cheltenham Festival, the Grand National, and the Derby, and tend to be during the weeks leading up to the race.

As a way of mitigating the risks of an ante-post bet, it is always worth considering the NRNB promotion, but do compare the odds in both the 'normal' antepost market versus the 'NRNB' antepost market as the odds tend to be slightly shorter in the latter. This may still be perfectly acceptable if you feel the price is generous enough as it is at that point in time.
